Ferruccio Lamborghini already had two factories in Italy, one producing tractors and the other air conditioners, when he decided to take on Enzo Ferrari in the automotive realm. Lamborghini felt that Ferrari's cars were too Spartan, too noisy, and too close to the track cars. He wanted to build performance cars with interior refinements that equaled the technology of the engine. In 1963, Lamborghini started production on his dream cars, with the 350 GTV making its debut at the Turin auto show that year.
No history of Ferrari is complete without mentioning that Enzo Ferrari worked for Alfa Romeo from 1920 to 1929 (he wanted to get a job at Fiat after WWI, but restrictions on civilian auto traffic in Italy meant the company wasn't hiring), and that he raced Alfas for another 10 years after that. From the time he was 12, according to Ferrari: The Man and His Machines, Enzo knew he wanted be a race driver. At Alfa, he achieved that dream, and adopted the cavallino, or prancing horse, insignia for his Alfa race car. In 1929, he left Alfa to start Scuderia Ferrari in Modena, his privately owned Alfa Romeo racing team.
The first Porsche 356 had a rear-mounted, souped-up 40-horsepower Volkswagen engine and parts sourced from wherever the company could find them, this being post-War Europe. A Zurich, Switzerland, distributor ordered five of the cars, which were hand-built at the company's headquarters in Gmund, Austria. One month after the first car left the factory, a 356 won its first race. The model went into regular production in 1950, and in 1954, a speedster version was introduced. The 10,000th 356 rolled off the assembly line in 1956, followed in later years by the 356B.
The Chevrolet Camaro was introduced in North America by the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors at the start of the 1967 model year as competition for the Ford Mustang. Although it was technically a compact car (by the standards of the time), the Camaro, like the entire class of Mustang competitors, was soon known as a pony car. It may also be classified as an intermediate touring car, a sports car, or a muscle car. The car shared the same General Motors "F-Body" platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced in 1967. Production of both cars ceased in 2002.
Advance Design trucks were identified by four-digit numbers displayed on both sides of the hood. Half-ton trucks were 3100 series, with 3/4 ton trucks getting a 3600 designation. Chevy's 216-cid straight-six motor was retained, receiving minor engine improvements. Older, ream-fit main bearings were replaced with the modern precision-type. The carburetor accelerator pump was moved into the float bowl to keep the leather piston wet. To help cold-engine driveability, the hand-choke activated a carb-mounted fast-idle cam.
At the end of the war, a legion of young men returned to America with a wad of demobilization cash in their pockets and a sense of freedom and excitement bred by their experiences in the war. With a period of peace and the steadily increasing prosperity of the country as a backdrop, these young men had a "can-do" attitude and a desire to express themselves in ways that their time in the military had stifled. And, all of a sudden, there were a lot of inexpensive used cars available.
It has a 3.5 L v6 has 485.5 horsepower. Ity also a 4 seater but it looks like a 2 seater. It can go 60 miles an hour in 3.5 seconds. Right between the two backseats there is no room because there are two big speakers in the middle backseat. With the enhancements for 2012, it includes 530-horsepower twin turbo V6 and revised styling, the GT-R legend continues to grow, said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.
And, the new Black Edition adds an extra level of exclusivity with its unique wheel and interior color treatments.
The Nissan GT-R again features its advanced VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6, which now produces 530 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 448 lb-ft of torque from 3,200 to 6,000 rpm. It does all of this while sticking to strict emissions standards. This is quite a feat for Nissan.
