As a Canadian, I take great pride in saying that I am a subject of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. I also take pride is singing the lyrics above, the first verse of the Royal and inaugural national anthem. The official national anthem of Canada is indeed "O'Canada", with a version in French and English, however, as we never left the Birtish Empire, our Royal and inaugural anthem remains "God save the Queen."
This anthem is also the official one of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, and the Isle of Man), and changes based on the gender of the current monarch. The Queen of Enlgand is currently the longest serving state-leader in the world's history at 65 years on the throne. She was corronated at age twenty-six (91 now), after the death of her father King George VI, who passed away due to lung cancer.
Though the monarchy of Britain is now a constitutional one, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has led her country with grace and resilience through thick and thin, and her actions have earned her a powerful reputation across the world.
Since 1215, the power of the Enlgish monarchy has been restrained so that the rights of the English free citizens are not infringed, and in 1688 after the Gloriuous Revolution, the British monarchy was made entirely constitutinal with little legal power. However, even with the laking of legal control, the English royals have always represented poise, education, and the pride of England.
There are many rules when it comes to any monarchy, and even today, they must be followed strictly. In the case of her Majesty's title, some may wonder why his royal highness Prince Phillip is not the King. Though the prince may have more direct royal blood than her majesty, he held no lands and very little wealth at the time of their marriage, placing him at a lower stance than the queen-to-be.
If it had been that the now-Queen had taken on Prince Phillips name, she would in fact not be Queen. It is due to the many royal rules that made it so her Majesty could keep her title and still marry the Prince, though the catch was that me would not become commander in chief, and rise above his wife.
Though regardless of eithers land holdings or wealth, the Royal couple has done a marvelous job of their caretaking to both their country and their children.
On the matter of children, Her Majesty and Prince Phillip have four children to date, and the heir to the Queen would be their eldest: His Royal Highness Prince Charles. After the Prince, his oldest son William is the next heir to the throne of england, then his son Prince George.
However, her majesty is in excellent health, and talk of heirs is unnecessary.
Long may she reign.
I have the honour to be, Madam, Your Majesty's humble servant.
