There are many different designers brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Supreme, and many more. Some of the biggest designer brands own other ones, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, and Brioni, which are owned by Gucci, or Fendi and Givency, which are owned by Louis Vuitton. A brand is considered designer if it is sold under a prestigious label, which is commonly named after a designer, founder, or location where the brand was founded.
Designer brands such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci are quite old, being found in 1854 and 1921 respectivly. The oldest designer brand that is still in operation today is Hermes, which was founded in 1837. Other brands such as supreme were found more recently, with supreme being found in 1994. Many of the older brands were found in countries such as Italy and France, while some brands like Supreme and Michael Kors were found in the USA.
Each designer brand has their own distinct style. For example supreme is a skateboarding/street clothes company, selling more modern designs, whereas Louis Vuitton is a bit more old fashioned. However, brands have done collobrations and products, possibly the most popular one being a Louis Vuitton and Supreme one. Each brand excels at whatever style that they are, which is why they are some of the biggest clothing and designer brands in the world.
