All about Jiro Ono


Jiro Ono is a Japenese Chef born on October 27, 1925. He is the owner of Sukiyabashi Jiro, a three-Michelin-starred japanese sushi restaurant that is located in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan. Jiro Ono has two sons, Yoshikazu Ono and Takashi Ono. Both of them are sushi chefs. His younger son, Takashi Ono, manages hus own Michelin-starred restaurant.



Jiro Ono has served Shinzo Abe(the 57th Prime Minister of Japan) and Barack Obama(the 44th President of the United States) at Sukiyabashi Jiro. Obama said" I was born in Hawaii and ate a lot of sushi. but this was the best sushi I've ever had in my life."


Facts about Jiro Ono:
-In 1951, Jiro Ono became a qualified sushi chef
-After years of his hard work, in 1965, he opened his own restaurant in Ginza, named Sukiyabashi Jiro
-The restaurant is located underground near a subway station
-At a time, the seats in the restaurant can't be seated more than 10 people, reservarions are needed to be made at least 3 months ago
-There are no menu at Sukiyabashi Jiro, the dishes are selected by Ono himself
-Was started as the best sushi chef in the world with his restaurant stated as the best sushi restaurant in the world
-Jiro's two sons Yoshikazu Ono and Takashi Ono both are also sushi chefs
