ABOUT HALSEY

Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, better known as Halsey is an American singer-songwriter. She was born on September 19, 1994. Her mother is Italian-American and her father is Afican-American. Halsey grew up playing the violin, viola, and cello until age 14 when she started playing the Acoustic Guitar. She started writing songs at the age of 17. When Halsey was 18, she started playing music to pay her rent. She chose "Halsey" as her nickname because it is a nickname and also a street where she grew up. In 2014, Halsey signed her first recording contract with Astralwerks, and releaseed her debut EP, Room 93.

Halsey's Career

Halsey started her career by posting covers on YouTube under her real name. She first gained attention when she posted her original song "Ghost" on SoundCloud. After that, she signed to Astralwerks Records and released her debut EP, Room 93. Her debut album, Badlands was released on August 28, 2015 and it debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200.

Halsey's first tour was with The Kooks in 2014 as the opening act. Through Spring of 2015, she led a co-headlining tour with Young Rising Songs. She also opened for Imagine Dragons on the Smoke and Mirrors Tour. In Septembe 2015 she started her first headlining tour, The Badlands Tour. She is also currently opening for The Weeknd on The Madness Fall Tour.

Halsey gained worldwide attention with her single "New Americana". She also featured on a Justin Bieber song called "The Feeling".
