Soccer is a well known sport all over the world, whether you play it, watch it, or simply have just heard of it. The point of soccer is to move a spherical ball in between two goalposts and under a crossbar by using your feet, head, or chest. This is called a goal. At the end of a certain time frame, the team with the largest number of accumulated goals wins. If the points result in a tie at the end of the game, then there will be a ten-minute overtime. If it is still tied, a shootout will come into play. The team who scores more in the shootout will be claimed victorious.

Offsides
The offside rule is probably one of the most complicated rules in soccer. The concept is simple: You cannot recieve a ball over half if you are behind the opponents's last defender. To recieve the ball, you must be in line with the last defender. From here, you can either recieve the ball to your feet, or have your teammate chip the ball for you to run onto it. Wait for your teammate to chip the ball before you make the run, though, or else you will be called for offside. The tricky thing about this rule is remembering this while showing for the ball while filled with the adrenalide of scoring a goal.

Fouls
soccer fouls are a violation of the conduct of the game and there are ways to punish offenders. A soccer foul include kicking, tripping, striking an opponent, colliding with a player before connecting with the ball when tackling, and deliberately handling the ball. Depending on how serious the violation is, you could recieve a red or yellow card.
